Karaoke tracks without uploading your music

Drop a stereo song and the page cancels the center channel with @audio/vocals, the mid/side complement to SoX's classic oops effect. Save the result as MP3, WAV, FLAC, OGG, Opus or AAC. Flip the mode to keep only the center for an a cappella reference.

What to expect

Center cancellation is honest about its limits: it removes what is panned center and leaves the rest. On a typical pop mix the lead vocal drops by 20 dB or more while guitars, keys and wide backing vocals stay. Bass and kick lose level too, because they sit in the center as well. For studio-grade separation you need a neural model; for a quick karaoke version, a sing-along practice track or checking a vocal's timing, this is the tool.

Tips

Questions

How does it remove the vocal? Mid/side processing. In most mixes the lead vocal is panned dead center, so subtracting the right channel from the left cancels it while side-panned instruments remain. The isolate mode keeps the center instead.

Why can I still hear some vocal? Reverb, delays and doubled harmonies are usually panned wide and survive cancellation. Bass and kick, also centered, are reduced along with the vocal. AI separation handles these better; this method is instant, private and works on any device.

Does it work on mono files? No. Center extraction needs a stereo image. A mono file has no sides to keep.

Is my song uploaded? No. The processing runs in your browser with @audio/vocals, an open-source library. Nothing leaves your device.
